Description
The original Supersonic™ — the HD07 — is still the dryer everything else gets measured against
Every Supersonic since has been an argument about this machine. The HD07 is where the argument started: a dryer that moves a lot of air at a temperature low enough not to cook the hair, in a body small enough to hold properly. It is not the newest model in the range, and it is not trying to be — it is the one that made the rest possible.
This is the three-attachment version in Prussian Blue and Rich Copper, with a diffuser and wide-tooth comb in the box. If your hair is curly, coily or textured, that combination is the reason to pick it over a dryer that ships with concentrators only.
What the HD07 actually does
Intelligent heat control — 40 readings a second
A thermistor in the head measures the temperature of the airflow more than 40 times every second and adjusts the heater to hold it steady. That is what stops the hot spikes that scorch a cuticle while the rest of the section is still wet — and it is why the manufacturer can claim fast drying without extreme heat.
The V9 motor — 110,000 rpm
The digital motor V9 spins at up to 110,000 rpm and sits in the handle rather than the head, which is what let the manufacturer shrink the whole machine. Paired with Air Multiplier™ technology it produces a high-pressure jet of controlled air: you dry with speed, not with temperature.
Magnetic attachments, 360° rotation
Every attachment clicks on magnetically and spins through a full circle, so you can angle the airflow without re-gripping the dryer. They stay cool enough to swap mid-section, which matters more than it sounds when you are working through thick hair.
Three attachments, and why this combination
- Diffuser — disperses air evenly around curls to simulate natural drying, reducing frizz and defining curl and wave pattern. Long prongs reach deeper into the hair for more control.
- Wide-tooth comb — robust teeth engineered for curly and textured hair, to lengthen the hair as it dries or to build volume and shape.
- Smoothing nozzle (styling concentrator) — a focused, high-velocity blade of air, so you can work one section without disturbing the rest. Helps deliver more ions for a smoother, natural finish.
The manufacturer’s own numbers
In the manufacturer’s testing, the Supersonic™ increased smoothness by 75%, increased shine by up to 132%, and decreased frizz and flyaways by up to 61%. Those are the manufacturer’s published figures rather than ours — but they are the reason this model still sells a decade after launch.

In the box
- Supersonic™ HD07 hair dryer — Prussian Blue / Rich Copper
- Diffuser — disperses air evenly to simulate natural drying
- Wide-tooth comb — detangles and lengthens as it dries
- Smoothing nozzle — delivers more ions for a smooth, natural finish
Who it suits
- Curly, coily and textured hair — the diffuser and wide-tooth comb are the two attachments that matter here, and both are in the box.
- Anyone drying thick hair daily — 13.3 l/s of airflow at a controlled temperature is still more air than most dryers on the shelf manage.
- Buyers who want the proven model — the HD07 has the longest track record in the range and the largest body of owner reviews behind it.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I clean the filter?
Once a month. Wipe debris from the outer filter cage and the inner filter mesh with a soft, dry cloth. A clogged filter is the most common reason a Supersonic starts feeling weak.
Can I buy new attachments later?
Yes. New attachments are fully compatible with older versions of the Supersonic™, so the range keeps growing without replacing the machine.
Can I use this one in a salon?
The manufacturer recommends the Professional edition for salon use. Filters clog faster with hairspray, and the consumer warranty does not cover commercial use or two or more hours a day.
What is the voltage?
110-120V, engineered for the country it was sold in. The manufacturer recommends using it only where you bought it.
Is this the newest Supersonic?
No. The HD07 is the original. The newer Supersonic r™ (HD17) is 30% smaller and 20% lighter, and the Nural™ (HD16) adds scalp protection and attachment memory. The HD07 remains the reference point for airflow and reliability.
What 27,219 owners say
4.7 out of 5 from 27,219 ratings, with 85% of reviewers saying they would recommend it to a friend.
“I am so happy with how smooth it makes my hair. Attachments are great because they don’t fall off while in use and they don’t get blazing hot when you want to remove them in the middle of drying your hair. The level of noise is very low. Performance is great drying my hair in minimal time. The Design is easy to use so that I don’t accidently switch settings while in use at certain settings.”
